A transplanted Canadian, Shirley Price now resides in Orange County, near Los Angeles. Living on the Pacific Rim, her work has a distinctly Asian sensibility. We love the clean lines and simplicity of her pieces, not always an easy result to obtain. Constructed of fine and sterling silver, each piece incorporates a single pearl in its design.
Shirley has just sent us a wonderful new collection of pieces, including several pairs of earrings. Here is just a taste...to whet your appetite...

happy father's day
Happy Father's Day to the guy who...
- almost singlehandedly delivered his own first child
- put together a huge wooden swing set...and it never fell down
- coached Little League
- took the kids out for dinner every Wednesday night, for over 10 years, while I worked at the ambulance corps
- drove the ski boat around and around and around
- doesn't complain about doing household chores...and still makes the bed every day
- when asked what he wanted for his Father's Day dinner, said that he was planning to grill chicken kabobs and I could just "take care of the rest of the stuff"
- loves, loves, loves country music - so his Father's Day present is a nice big iTunes gift certificate -- enjoy!! xoxox

keep our marines safe
JOOLZ artist Brittany Wende's husband, James, a Marine lieutenant stationed at Camp Leatherneck in southern Afghanistan, was featured on today's episode of NPR's "All Things Considered." James and our nephew Ted are good friends and are serving together with the 2/8 in Afghanistan. A transcript of today's program, together with pictures of the men and Camp Leatherneck, is featured on the NPR website. Here's a picture of James as he passes time until his unit is sent into combat. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers as they work to complete a successful mission.
summer sparkles
Don't you just love the lighter, brighter summertime colors? Light blues, pinks, yellows, greens, lavenders...all worn with a smile. The skies are brighter (at least here in western NY), the temps are warmer and our clothing is delightfully lightweight.
Colorado artist Denise Bloch knows how to celebrate summer, using cane glass and Swarovski crystals. Here's one of our favorites - a pastel-colored necklace that goes with just about anything you might want to wear this summer:

going...going...almost gone
California artist Anne Dick created very popular bronze jewelry for over 30 years. When we heard she was retiring and selling her business, we knew her new work would be in short supply, and it was one of our best sellers; we bought a ton of it and had more than 80 pieces in inventory at one point. Then we learned that the new owners of her business are not making jewelry using her designs. We don't know why, but Anne Dick pieces are no longer available for wholesale purchase.
"Pern" earrings
Now our supply has dwindled to a new low. Sadly, it will soon be all gone, with no way to get more. Sad for us and sad for our customers, who love that it is inexpensive, has an ageless design and is great travel jewelry - looks like gold but isn't.

We have several in stock, including a mint green graduated neck collar and this lightweight pink/lavender T-shirt necklace strung together with jeweler's wire. Abra's work is reasonably priced and perfect for summertime. Think warm breezes, a cool drink and a fashionable little sundress...
